My interview with Karin from Over the Rhine

When the talented twosome Karin and Linford from Over the Rhine performed at Musica April 2nd, I was  honored to let the band use Noto as their dressing room! And of course I jumped at the opportunity to ask Karin about her on the road style.

Karin left the store with a beautiful vest from Gentle Fawn and some rockin Dogwood Jewelry! -and when I returned to the store they left me their new album The Long Surrender on cd and vinyl! . . you could say im a little starstruck:)

Enjoy the interview!

1. How do you pack for touring?
Well, I rarely unpack. I have two suitcases that I practically live out of and I pull out the laundry that needs to be done until they are empty. By then it's time to go back out on the road!
2. Any favorite boutiques you like to frequent while touring?
Yes NOTO! And I try to find small boutiques in each city where we gig. I like the familiarity and intimacy of finding and returning to little out-of-the-way privately-owned funky shops. I avoid the mega-mall stores cranking loud (and dreadfully crafted) music. It's too much information for me.
3. Any favorite brands or designers?
I seem to love and collect anything made by Velvet.

4. Are there any current trends you love? or wish would go away?
I've always flirted with the Neo-Boho look and likely always will. I think its intriguing how the fashion industry recycles styles and puts new spins on them to reintroduce them into modern culture. This is probably why I have a hard time throwing any article of clothing away. I know it will come back in a few years and I'd rather not buy it twice.
5. Can you sum your personal style up in 3 words?
Eclectic - just like the music in my library.
