Hello busy being.
We at Noto know how our weekends tend to fill up fast as we approach the Memorial Day holiday. The days are getting nicer and everybody has a graduation or a birthday or some event that simply cannot be missed! So, while you have your calendar out planning ahead for this hectic time, we feel it is our responsibility to tell you about another cool (and healthy!) event happening in Akron.
On Tuesday June 21st, hundreds of yoga practitioners ranging in experience from beginner to advanced will gather at the Ledges on Truxell Rd. for The Second Annual Summer Solstice Yoga Festival. The gathering happens on the solstice or first day of summer and is a way of commemorating the longest day of the year. In the giant field that The Ledges is so known for, the group will accomplish 108 sun salutations.
A Sun Salutation is a series of twelve flowing yoga postures that stretch and strengthen the major muscle groups of the body leaving you feeling open, a bit taller and strong.
This event is free. So come out and connect with some good people. The 108 sun salutes are broken down into groups six groups of 18. If this number seems intimidating, grab a friend or two and alternate sets. The beauty of yoga is nobody’s keeping score. This event is free and open to the public. It will be followed by picnicking and live music.
So while your calendar is out, mark down this year’s Fashion is A Choice show on June 18th and The Second Annual Summer Solstice Festival on June 21st. For more information on the Solstice Festival go to Free Akron Yoga’s fanpage on Facebook.
Hope you are having the best day ever!
Carrie
